Employee engagement in a lot of organizations starts and ends at the employee satisfaction survey. A survey is intended to simply gather data and not be the tool to actually create or enhance employee satisfaction. A true benchmark of employee satisfaction and engagement is participation; when people participate in not only what they are supposed to do but also partake in solutions for companywide issues, when that happens we get tangible and result driven collaboration. A survey is great, but participation starts with tools and avenues within organizations that act as a platform for participation.
