The Challenge

The Christian University of Applied Sciences Ede (CHE) is well known for its personal approach and strong connection with the professional field. However, precisely because of this close collaboration with external partners, combined with the diversity of full-time and part-time students, the need for more flexibility in assessment became clear.

Project Leader Rachael Haverkamp explains:

“We noticed we were looking for more flexibility. In our old system, processes were slow, and adjustments took time. At the same time, we wanted to improve the quality of our exams and align them more closely with flexible learning environments, where professional partners are increasingly providing input. That calls for a modern assessment system.”

This led CHE to search for a platform that combined flexibility, quality, and user-friendliness—while truly supporting lecturers in their work.

The Solution

After a thorough procurement process, CHE chose Remindo. The decisive factors were ease of use and the educational expertise of Remindo’s implementation team.

“During the demos, we immediately saw how intuitive Remindo is. Lecturers were enthusiastic, especially about the ability to quickly assemble exams themselves and the support provided for grading. We also noticed that Remindo was developed with a strong educational perspective, which gave us real confidence in its quality,” says Rachael.

The Implementation Process

CHE was well aware that implementing a new assessment system would be intensive. It requires time, particularly from lecturers who must convert and restructure existing exams. Still, the process has stayed on track—thanks partly to the collaboration with the Remindo team. Rachael adds:

“We have weekly meetings with our project lead from Remindo. They really think along with us and take our workload peaks into account. That builds trust. Of course, there are challenges, such as developing integrations and coordinating between different faculties, but we remain in control because of this regular alignment.”

The First Results

Although the implementation is still ongoing, Rachael already sees significant progress:

“All questions have now been successfully transferred into Remindo. That’s an important milestone: lecturers can now work with their own material in the new environment.”

In addition, both lecturers and administrators have received extensive training.

“We deliberately invested time in training. It’s not just about learning to click through a system, but about understanding the new way of working that Remindo enables.”

The first student pilots are also promising.

“The initial pilot exams were received positively by students. As project leader, that’s important to me, because it confirms that our choices align with our vision: assessments that are reliable and enhance the learning experience.”

Looking Ahead

For CHE, this is only the beginning. With Remindo, the university aims to improve exam quality further, offer greater flexibility, and use data analysis to strengthen programs.

“We see Remindo as the foundation for further innovation in assessment. It helps us shape our collaboration with the professional field more effectively. That’s an important step toward the future of assessment.”
