The Challenge

We at SVPB operate a bit differently from the average exam provider,” says Willemijn Westerhof, Advisor for Development and Innovation.
We not only develop exams for the private security sector, but we also administer them, assess the work, and issue the diplomas. That requires a system that is reliable and fully safeguarded.”

The challenge lay in managing the different processes.

“Open-ended work was still being graded in Excel models. That meant a lot of separate files and information scattered across multiple locations. With the thousands of exams we process, we knew: this has to be smarter and future-proof.”

The solution

“A major advantage of Remindo is that you can grade online and that open-ended exams can be taken directly in the system,” Westerhof explains.

Candidates now complete their case assignments digitally, and assessors review them in Remindo.

“That saves a huge amount of time and gives us far more overview.”

The platform offers features that align with modern assessment practices.

“Because Remindo remembers the candidates, exams can not only be assembled at random, but candidates also get unique items with each exam attempt. This strengthens both reliability and validity. We can also easily add videos to the system, making the exams more realistic and better aligned with practice.”

She adds:

“The activity dashboard is great — you can see at a glance how candidates are progressing during an exam. It provides an overview and control.”

Westerhof also appreciates the collaboration with Remindo.

“It’s pleasant to have a Dutch helpdesk you can reach quickly. And Paragin hosts a user council where many organizations come together to share knowledge and experiences.”

The implementation process took more time than expected.

“You want to roll out such a major change according to plan, but it really requires carefulness. Setting up the system and getting colleagues on board takes time. In hindsight, that’s completely logical — and it pays off in the structured way we work now.”

Westerhof remains realistic:

“Of course, there are always things that can be improved. For new users, the system can be quite complex, so providing clear explanations and training remains important. And not all functionalities perfectly match our specific needs yet. But the great thing is that Remindo is open to feedback. And our collaboration with our implementation consultant Lotte has been very pleasant.”

The future

With a solid foundation in place, SVPB is looking ahead.

“We want to make more use of Remindo’s analytics features. That will allow us not only to administer exams reliably, but also to continuously improve them.”

She concludes:

“What I find most valuable is that we have moved from scattered files and fragmented processes to one safeguarded system. It gives an overview and confidence — for us and for the entire sector. With Remindo, we’ve found a partner we can confidently continue building with in the years ahead.”
